What is agentic ai?
Agentic AI describes software that decides for itself which steps to take towards a goal, rather than executing a sequence written out in advance.
Plain and technical
Ordinary automation follows a script somebody wrote. An agent works out what to do next based on what it has found so far, which means it can handle situations nobody thought about when the software was written.
In infrastructure operations, an agentic system resolves a goal into a sequence of queries and actions chosen at run time. The properties that determine whether it is usable in production are grounding (answering from live environment data rather than model recall), and legibility, meaning the reasoning is presented as a verifiable execution trace rather than as a bare conclusion.
